Melville premier women have surged three points clear at the top of the northern league championship after a 3-0 away win over Cambridge, while Onehunga Sports lost 7-3 to Franklin United.

Still, Melville could be pleased with the result in the circumstances, given they had four payers involved in the national futsal final the day before, captain Rebecca Brown arriving from overseas on the morning of the game, and Freya Douglas returning just a day earlier.
For Melville, Erin Orchard had a useful game at fullback, and Bennett was always dangerous when she was on the ball.
