RIP John Webb

Former Melville United secretary John Webb has died peacefully in his sleep in his hometown of Gurnsey in the UK.

Webb was a valued committee member for a number of years during the 1990s, where his responsibilities ranged from club secretary to programme editor.

His brother Mark, himself a former club member, coach, and club sponsor, announced on his Facebook page that John had died on Tuesday July 23.

John, a twin brother of Brian Webb, was well known as an avid Melville United, Ngaruawahia United and Manchester United fan, who drove a little red Toyota MR2, loved football, a cigarette and a beer.  He worked for many years alongside Melville club stalwarts Harry Noorland, Chris Smith and others at NDA.

John was an exceptionally friendly bloke with loads of character, who loved a laugh.

Melville extend condolences to his brothers Mark, Brian and Geoff.  Let the memories of your brother live on in your heart to help bring you comfort at this sad time.
