Special General Meeting December 18
Melville United will convene a Special General Meeting of the club at Gower Park on Monday December 18, 7pm, in advance of a management committee meeting the same night.
The SGM has been called in the wake of Monday’s post-AGM strategic planning meeting, where, in setting new 5-year objectives, the club’s flat administrative structure was identified as a weakness during SWOT anaysis.
Reconvening in the form of a special general meeting will give latitude to amend club rules, or structurally re-assign administrative personnel, as discussion continues on setting 5-year objectives for the club which will play to our strengths, mitigate weaknesses, realise opportunities and eliminate threats.
A proposal to reconfigure the club’s management committee and the organisational structure underneath it will be tabled at the SGM.
Any club member is welcome to attend the SGM.
Meanwhile Monday’s meeting – facilitated by commercial manager Steve Owens – identified the club’s strengths as being its facilities, Gower Park’s size and location, the contunuity of administrative personnel and their accumulated knowledge, the club’s reputation and profile, and the quality of its football programmes and coaching.
Identified weaknesses included Melville’s current northern league Division 1 status, relatively narrow income streams, the challenges of retaining volunteers, the risk of administrator burnout
and the marginal state of some pitches and other factors which are outside the control of the club
