The scoreline did not reflect Melville’s dominance, with Lynn-Avon always under pressure against an experimental line-up.

Melville rested Liam Hayes, Luke Searle, Jama Boss, Josh Davies, and Liam Steffert from their usual starting lineup, while even skipper Aaron Scott was subbed off midway through the second half for a very rare spell on the sideline.

Federico Marquez made his first start of the season but was subbed off after 12 minutes with a calf problem.

Others to get a start included Levi Clark, Sedy Baroke, Ernest Pidoke, and Thomas Mouncher, while Harry Christensen-Rose, Logan Wiznewski and Joel McMullan came off the bench.

Goals came from Mark Jones (2), Jordan Lamb and Wade Molony.

Max Tommy was named player of the day after he made one save late in the piece.

Melville are at home to Ellerslie on Saturday.
